The Bombay High Court on Wednesday directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to figure out if there was a standing Look Out Circular (LOC) against actor Sahil Khan and inform the court about the same during the next hearing.

An LOC is a notice issued to stop those facing prosecution from travelling abroad.

The bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dhere and Prithviraj Chavan was hearing a petition filed by Khan seeking that his passport be returned and that if there is any standing LOC against him, then it should be withdrawn.

Sahil Khan was arrested in Chhattisgarh by Mumbai’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) due to his alleged involvement in the Rs 15,000 crore Mahadev betting app case in April. The arrest came after the Bombay High Court had denied granting him anticipatory bail on April 24.

The Additional Public Prosecutor opposed the submission saying that the prayer for withdrawal of Look Out Circular was vague as Khan himself did not know if there was an LOC against him.

The bench, however, told the prosecutor that “He (Khan) doesn’t want to go to airport and then be told that he can’t travel because of the LOC”.

Advocate MA Khan representing the actor pointed out that during the hearing of the Anticipatory plea, the SIT had told the high court that Sahil Khan was outside the country, and they feared that he was never going to return and thus an LOC which had been issued would be relaxed for him to return. It was because of this apprehension expressed by the SIT that the high court had directed Khan to submit his passport with the SIT.

Khan submitted that the bail condition imposed on him was very clear that he would not be able to travel out of India without the court permission, but he wanted the passport returned and the LOC withdrawn.

Sahil Khan who has acted in films like Style’, ‘Excuse Me’, ‘Aladdin’ and ‘FALTU’ had been charged for cheating, forgery and gambling.
