Mandya: DC Kumara carried out an impromptu inspection at MIMS Hospital to evaluate patient care conditions and basic amenities, here on Wednesday. He advised the staff to maintain composure and work systematically.
During his visit, the DC interacted with patients and their families and collected their feedback. Later, he stressed that daily supervision is essential to ensure smooth operations and reduce grievances.
He expressed dissatisfaction over inadequate sanitation and water provisions at the hospital, and directed officials to ensure uninterrupted access to essential services for patients. The administration recruited 105 sanitation workers to maintain hygiene standards.
The inspection revealed urgent matters requiring attention, including damaged toilet doors, unsanitary washroom conditions and bathing facilities, absence of basic facilities like buckets and mugs in bathing areas, and faulty basins. He indicated these issues could be resolved swiftly using operational funds.
Following the medical education minister’s directive to complete the cancer hospital within three months, Kumara assessed the ongoing developments at MIMS and noted that the project remains incomplete. He instructed officials to accelerate construction work for completion by the end of Feb.
The assessment covered various services, including CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, dialysis, ambulance operations, critical care facilities, library services, health centre operations, and PF payments for staff on contract. MIMS director and dean Narasimhaswamy, medical superintendent Dr Shivakumar, RMO Dr Darshan Kumar, CAO Johnson, and medical college principal Dr Hanumanth Prasad were present.
