Pixel Watch 3 specifications
Google states that its new generation Pixel Watch 3 brings a more refined design and enhanced functionality. The watch has been launched in two sizes, a 41mm and a new 45mm dial variant, providing users with more options to suit their preferences. The 45mm model offers 40 per cent more screen space compared to its predecessor, while the 41mm model offers 10 per cent increase due to thinner bezels.
Google highlights that the display of the new Pixel Watch 3 is capable of reaching up to 2,000 nits of brightness, making it suitable for use in various lighting conditions, including bright sunlight. At the same time, the display can dim to as low as 1 nit for use in darker environments, such as during nighttime or at the movies, ensuring minimal disruption to the eyes.
Battery life is another significant upgrade of the Pixel Watch 3. Despite the increased display size and brightness, Google says that the Watch 3 has been designed to offer all-day battery life, using a combination of more efficient display technology and the new Wear OS 5. The 45mm model is equipped with a 35 per cent larger battery than the previous generation, while the 41mm model boasts 20 per cent faster charging times. The Watch 3 also introduces a new Battery Saver Mode, which extends battery life up to 36 hours without compromising key functionalities like health tracking.
On the software front, the Pixel Watch 3 comes with upgraded fitness and recovery tools, building on Google’s extensive suite of health-related features. These include machine-learning-driven sleep tracking, which can automatically detect when the user is asleep and activate Bedtime Mode, disabling notifications and the always-on display to conserve battery life. Like other Pixel devices, Google notes that the Watch 3 is also deeply integrated with Google’s ecosystem, offering seamless connectivity and synchronisation with other Pixel devices.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 specifications
Accompanying the Pixel Watch 3 in this launch are the Pixel Buds Pro 2, Google’s latest wireless earbuds. Notably, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 comes more than two years after the launch of the last Pixel Buds Pro. Google says that the new generation Buds Pro are the first Pixel buds to feature Google’s custom-designed Tensor A1 chip, which powers their audio processing and AI functionalities. The Buds Pro 2 are designed to provide clear and balanced audio, with the Tensor A1 chip enabling more advanced processing techniques like multipath processing for better sound quality.
A key feature of the Pixel Buds Pro 2 is the improved Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), now featuring Silent Seal 2.0 technology. This updated ANC system is said to be capable of cancelling twice as much noise as previous models, making it easier for users to focus on their audio without external distractions. Google also highlights that its new Buds Pro 2 earbuds are designed for comfort, with a secure fit that caters to a wide range of ear shapes and sizes.
Another standout feature of the Pixel Buds Pro 2 is their integration with Gemini, Google’s AI assistant platform. These earbuds allow users to interact with Gemini hands-free and eyes-free, using voice commands to control various functions or retrieve information. The Gemini Live feature takes this a step further by enabling more extended conversations, using Google’s latest speech technology to provide a more natural and responsive interaction.
In terms of battery life, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are designed to last up to 8 hours with Active Noise Cancellation enabled and up to 30 hours when used with the charging case. The earbuds also support fast charging, providing up to three hours of listening time from just a 15-minute charge.
