Indore: The historic Robert Nursing Home in Indore is set to undergo a significant transformation while preserving its rich legacy, as an additional building will be constructed here at a cost of Rs 18 crore.
In a meeting of the hospital management committee, chaired by the divisional commissioner Deepak Singh on Monday, plans for the expansion and modernisation of the healthcare facility were revealed.
“Established over 120 years ago, Robert Nursing Home has been providing healthcare services to the community at affordable rates. The hospital’s dedicated staff, including doctors, nurses and paramedics, are committed to delivering patient-centric care. Despite its age, the hospital managed to maintain essential services like a blood bank and dialysis centre,” Singh said.
He added that recognising the need for improved infrastructure to cater to the growing healthcare demands, the management committee approved a new building project worth Rs 18 crore. This new G+2 structure will be constructed by a reputed agency and is expected to be completed within 18 months.
Simultaneously, the existing hospital building will undergo a comprehensive renovation that includes the renovation of the ICU, chemotherapy ward, emergency ward, and waiting rooms, costing Rs 35 lakh. There will be an upgrade of patient rooms along with the washrooms. To accommodate the increasing number of patients, the hospital will add more beds. Besides, a new blood bank will be constructed on the rooftop of the old building at an estimated cost of Rs 24 lakh.
The hospital will install a new elevator for patient convenience and purchase five new infusion pumps for the ICU, he said.
