A student, travelling in an autorickshaw, died after a truck rammed into the three-wheeler from behind, resulting in the vehicle being dragged under a bus in Hyderabad’s Habsiguda on Saturday, officials said.

The driver of the auto-rickshaw is critically injured and is receiving medical treatment.

Due to the severity of the collision, a crane was needed to remove the crushed auto-rickshaw from the scene. Police responded swiftly, extracting the injured from the wreckage and transporting them to a nearby hospital.

The student succumbed to her injuries en route to the hospital, while the auto driver, identified as Yellaiah, remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment at Prasad Hospital in Nacharam.

According to the Osmania University Police, the accident occurred when the autorickshaw had stopped behind an RTC bus at the Habsiguda signal. A Tusker lorry crashed into the autorickshaw from behind, reportedly hitting it three times, causing it to be crushed under the bus.

“The impact was severe. Despite the immediate response, the young girl could not be saved,” stated a police officer from Osmania University Police Station.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
