There was a huge commotion at the RG Kar hospital in Kolkata as The ‘Reclaim The Night’ protests against Kolkata doctor’s rape and murder turned violent at around midnight on Thursday.

A huge mob resorted to violence breaking the police barricades outside hospital’s gate and entering the premises, also vandalising police vehicles.

The crowd also entered the emergency ward of the hospital and vandalised it too, damaging the property inside the building. The huge mob of protesters could not be controlled by the police force deployed there as they were was in less number as compared to the mob.

However, the police later resorted to lathicharge and used tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. Many people have been reported to be injured in the incident.
