Padma awardee Doctor Ashok Seth in an interview with India Today emphasised the importance of a uniform law for healthcare workers.
He said, “Its a reminder that we now need to act, we just can’t sit around. There are laws in every state, but the implementation is poor. Therefore, we urge the Prime Minister to create the central act. This is the time for all of us to wake up for central act for healthcare workers, doctors, nurses, and anyone who becomes a person who is a part of the healthcare.
He further stated that a central Bill is a must. “When it is a central bill the implementation is going to be uniform, its applicability will be defined, nobody will actually get out of it or away from it through loopholes which states can always create.”
