Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo suffered a broken ankle during their Premier League opener against Bournemouth on August 17, a significant setback for both the player and the team. The incident occurred just 10 minutes into the match at the City Ground when Danilo went up for a header in the center of the pitch. As he landed, he collided awkwardly with Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, leading to the severe injury.

The match was immediately halted as the medical staff rushed onto the field to attend to the 23-year-old Brazilian. The severity of the injury was evident, and the team used Forest flags to shield the scene from the crowd. After several minutes of treatment, Danilo was stretchered off the pitch, leaving the team and fans concerned about his recovery. Club manager Nuno Espirito Santo confirmed during the post-match press-conference about the seriousness of Danilo’s injury.

“It’s a tough moment for all, especially for Danilo. We don’t know yet what has happened but we know it’s serious,” Nuno told Sky Sports.

“Since last season he has been talented in the way he manages the game. He is a very good player so it is a tough moment. Everyone loves him in the dressing room,” Nuno added.

Danilo joined Nottingham Forest from Brazilian side Palmeiras in January 2023 and quickly established himself as a key player. In his time with the club, he has made 43 appearances, becoming a vital part of the team’s midfield. However, this injury could see him sidelined for a significant portion of the season, if not the entire campaign.

The injury marks the first major setback in Danilo’s career, and it comes at a time when Nottingham Forest is aiming to make an impact in the Premier League.
