Thermoverita Private Limited, a company owned by the Khedkar family based in Talwade, has avoided an impending auction by settling its outstanding property tax and water bills, officials said on Thursday.
The company, named after controversial probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar’s mother, Manorama Khedkar, had accrued a property tax arrear of Rs 2,87,000 for the year 2022.
Additionally, a water bill of Rs 1,78,000 was long overdue too. Following a property seizure on July 19 due to these unpaid dues, a 21-day deadline was set for the Khedkars to clear the pending dues.
Notably, Puja Khedkar had furnished the address of the company in Talwade as proof of residence to obtain a disability certificate from Yashwantrao Chavan Smriti (YCM) Hospital of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. The ration card was given as an identity card for a certificate. This ration card also had the address of the same company.
Thermoverita Private Limited, located in Talwade Village in Jyotibanagar is named after Puja’s mother Manorama.
On August 6, Puja Khedkar, who had used the company’s Talwade address for obtaining a disability certificate, cleared the arrears with a total payment of Rs 4,65,000. This payment has averted the auction scheduled for the company.
Meanwhile, Nilesh Deshmukh, Assistant Commissioner of the Tax Collection Department of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), confirmed that the company’s dues have been settled, and the auction is no longer necessary.
