Patna: In a significant move to enhance healthcare facilities for the railway employees of five divisions — Danapur, Sonepur, Samastipur, DDU, and Dhanbad under the jurisdiction of the Eastern Central Railway (ECR), GM Chhatrasal Singh inaugurated six additional beds in the emergency ward of the ECR’s super speciality hospital at Karbigahiya in Patna on Wednesday evening.
This expansion increases the total number of beds to 10 in the emergency ward, catering to the growing healthcare needs of approximately 90,000 railway employees registered with the hospital.
According to the GM, the emergency ward expansion is a key initiative to address the rising patient footfall, which averages about 900 patients daily in the Outpatient Department (OPD). “The new beds will ensure that the hospital can better manage the increasing demand for emergency services, especially considering the vast number of railway employees and their families who rely on the facility for medical care,” he said.
ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Saraswati Chandra said, the expansion of the emergency ward comes as part of a broader initiative to modernise and improve medical facilities to fulfil the needs of employees and their families.
