Star India player Rishabh Pant feels that the Delhi Premier League could be a big opportunity for the local talent to get recognition. The Purani Dilli 6 batter Pant was also excited to be part of DPL 2024 and wanted the players to learn, grow and make a mark in order to potentially get picked for the IPL. He received a grand welcome as he joined the Dilli 6 team for their opener match against South Delhi Strikerz on August 17, Saturday.
“I think I am really excited because I feel on ground level this is a very big opportunity for players who don’t get that recognition in IPL. I think when people see you playing in these kind of leagues, I think they can pick you from there. It’s a big boost for each and every player and hopefully they will learn from the people around them and hopefully they do well and have lots of fun,” Pant said in a video released by the social media handle of the DPL franchise.

Pant, alongside Ishant Sharma, will aim to dazzle the inaugural edition of the league with their performances. The opening match is scheduled to take place at 8:30 pm on Saturday. The following matches will take place on 2 pm and 7 pm each day.

We are confident that Purani Dilli 6 will make a strong impact in the league,” Purani Dilli 6 owner Akash Nangia said.
The first edition of the Delhi Premier League will feature 40 matches, including 33 men’s and 7 women’s games, all to be held at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The tournament will take place from August 17 to September 8, 2024, with all the matches being held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
