India captain Rohit Sharma is spending some much-needed downtime during the off season. The Indian men’s cricket team have a long break between their assignments and that means players have gone back home to spend some time with their families.
India captain Rohit Sharma was pictured with his friends – former India cricketer Dhawal Kulkarni and assistant India coach Abhishek Nayar on Sunday, 18 August. Dhawal Kulkarni posted a photo of the group on his social media account where they were seen sharing a meal.
The Indian team toured Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka before going on a break. After winning the T20I series against both nations, India faltered in the ODI format, losing the series 2-0. It was not a good start for Indian in the Gautam Gambhir era as the team failed to play the Sri Lankan spin bowlers, losing wickets in bunches.
India captain Rohit Sharma batted well in all three matches of the series scoring two half-centuries. In fact Rohit was the highest scorer of the series, hitting 157 runs in 3 games. Sharma and the team will hope to regroup well before they start their home season against Bangladesh and New Zealand. India will play Test and T20I series against the two nations before flying out to Australia to play the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The tour of Australia will be the showpiece bilateral series for India in this season as they will look to maintain their dominance over the BGT.
In the previous bilateral Test series against Australia, India won at home, clinching the 4-match series 2-1. Before that, India won two back to back Test series in Australia, once under the captaincy of Virat Kohli and then under Ajinkya Rahane.
