India batter and KKR captain Shreyas Iyer had a wholesome moment with his fans in the off-season. Iyer, who is spending some downtime in Mumbai was spotted signing some autographs for his fans and helping underprivileged people.
Iyer, who led KKR to the Indian Premier League title on his comeback from injury is spending a much-needed break after what has been an injury-marred difficult season for him. Iyer had missed much of the 2023 action due to a lower back injury and was only able to make his return just ahead of the ODI World Cup. Iyer was prolific in the tournament scoring 500+ runs but got injured once again early in 2024, midway through the Test series against England.
Amidst massive criticism about his batting and fitness, Iyer led KKR to a title win under the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir and Chandrakanth Pandit, which brought his career back on track.
The player recently featured in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, where he was not able to perform up to standards. Iyer scored in single digits in the last two matches of the series that India lost against the SL team.
The middle-order batter is expected to feature in the red-ball format in the home series against Bangladesh and New Zealand. Iyer is also expected to grind it out in the domestic arena before the Champions Trophy, set to be held early in 2025.
Not only Iyer, but other India cricketers are also spending their off season with either their families or friends. Virat Kohli is in London taking care of their new child, Rohit Sharma is hanging out with India’s assistant coach and his close friend Abhishek Nayar.
